American Bull Dog

American Bull Dogs

I have a Brown and white male American Bull Dog. I would like to mate him with a Female American Bull Dog. He is 11 mo old, and ready to mate. How do I get his picture notice by other American Bull Dog Breeders?

Please de sex your pet. Do you know how many of these dogs are on death row as we speak?

Why do that? You cannot guarantee that the puppies will go to loving homes, you cannot guarantee they will not be used as bait dogs, or fighting dogs!

Just neuter him, and enjoy your pet! Leave breeding to the experts!

If you don’t already have all that info, you probably are not ready to breed a dog. Just neuter him! There are enough dogs already.

Don’t breed you dog! There are so many dogs dying in the shelter because no one spay/neuters their dog! There are so many benefits of spaying/neutering. Want to be a responsible dog owner? NEUTER YOUR DOG!

"He is 11 mo old, and ready to mate" Thats way to young to mate.

Don’t breed him! If you don’t know a lot about it don’t do it! Just get him fixed for he can live a happy longer life!

If you are having to ask questions like this, then you are obviously not a licensed breeder. Do everyone a favor and neuter your dog!!!

    NO. You don’t.

First of all, he is TOO YOUNG to breed. Second, SPELL IT RIGHT! BULLDOG is ONE word.

No one is going to want your "pet" quality dog. What are his Titles? Does he come from Championship lines? Health tests? Do you participate in events? Shows? Does he have any ribbons and Titles to his name? No? Then you don’t have a breeder-worthy dog.

  8. Lorraine Said,

11 months old is absolutely NOT ready to mate as he cannot possibly have had all his genetic testing.

When he has had his hip and elbow scores done and and you have checked his parents and grandparents for HD / ED free lines and any other genetic problems the breed has then it would be the right time to think about it.

Even then he is an unproven male and would only get a minor fee to start with — and all of this SHOULD only be done IF he is an excellent example in temperament and conformation and even if he doesn’t show to know that, you should know enough about the breed to judge that.

Somehow I don’t think you even thought about all this.

Now let’s talk about the homes — the amount of dogs being put to sleep every day — the amount of this type of dog that would end up in the wrong hands etc. The fact that this could change your dogs personality for the worse. Are you ready for what that brings.

    Please think again.

  9. Lelee Said,

Please, PLEASE, do not breed him. Every shelter in every state has a death row full of The American Bulldog. 11 months is a way too young to breed any dog. As a medium size dog he should be three years to have sound puppies. The Animal Planet TV channel has two shows weekly devoted to the adoption and saving and discouraging the breeding of these dogs. Look at the history of these dogs on the internet. Neuter your dog and if you want him to have a companion the shelters are full of them and there are also rescues near every big city in every state.

find a website dedicated to the breed.
or to search more locally put a stud service ad in your paper.
really though, why do you want him to have puppies so badly?
    to make some cash?
if you’re looking to do that then your hound will need papers.

    No photo necessary.

Simply post his OFA and CERF scores along with his titles and pedigree, and explain that you’re looking for a complementary Am Bulldog b*tch that also has her genetic health clearances and titles.

    No he’s not ready.

    CERF, OFA and NCL clearances
    UKC papers?
    Titles?
Strictly show or being used for work?
    3 gen pedigree at minimum?
    What kennel is he from?
    Negative brucellosis test?

1 It is American Bulldog, not Bull Dog.

#2 He is too young to be bred

#3 He isn’t old enough to have all of his OFA health clearences

#4 If you were a responsible breeder, you would know all this

#5 No responsible breeder would want anything to do with your dog!
